Gunnar's Silent Sunday I: Harried and/or Horrified Harriet

A to Z Blogging Challenge

Hello Mellow Fellows!

In the Auspicious Month of April, we will be posting a Poem a Day.
The themes will be chosen in the Alphabetical Way

Look for our poems and the themes that we choose
Watch us spiral downward as our minds we do lose!

Spring Puppy and Kitten Love

Spring Puppy and Kitten Love

I hate to be a killjoy
For I too feel the puppy (and kitty) love
But too many are born
Every spring there's a boom
Many of them die, never knowing a loving home

Please, if you have a critter
Keep him or her safe, inside or in a yard
Make sure to spay and neuter
For though I love the little balls of fluff
We have to say enough's enough

Until we can find loving homes for every one
We need to do what must be done
Give them food and shelter, and fix them too
To make a happier world
This is what we have to do

Don't let their lives end in springtime
In a shelter, or on the cold concrete
Let them live long, to a ripe old age
In a home where they know comfort
In a world where they know love

~Aurora~

Not the best poem I ever wrote, but when I saw the picture of the puppy, that is what came to mind. Spring is a time when animal births of all kinds boom. There is an increase in litters of puppies and kittens brought to the shelter in the spring.

If you are on Facebook, check out Animal Anarchy, a page that shares animals in need. I'm one of the admins.

Ronnie Baker's Easter Woe

Image found here.

A fellow who liked to bake bread
Was filled with despair in his head
Too many orders he took
Without enough ovens to cook
All the Easter treats for customers live and Undead

Theme Thursday: Complexities

Gordian Knot

Complexities
by
Tempest Nightingale LeTrope

How much more complex can you get
Than a Gordian Knot
I think you cannot

The Knot of the Gordian variety
Poses the greatest of complexities
To unravel it poses the utmost in vexities

The Gordian Knot is best left alone
Life is complex enough
Without fiddling about with this kind of stuff

Apathy in the Face of the Unthinkable

Your apathy
and depravity
Will be the downfall
of humanity

Adam

Written after reading that people had watched a video of a three year old girl being molested by a pedophile, which was circulating on Facebook. Their response was not to be sickened, or saddened, but to joke about the trauma which this child had suffered.

Meet Adam, and a Grammar Lesson

Hi, I'm Adam. I'm the Mister Sister of the Writing Sisters who started this blog.
I just woke up about an hour ago, have the furnace blasting, the gas fireplace going, a pan of muffins cooking, and I'm still sitting here with a blanket wrapped around my shoulders, freezing. It irritates me how much my partner and I are paying on this townhouse, only to realize that perhaps we should have tried to talk them down a little due to the fact that the windows need replacing and the insulation is crap.

I could write an ode to the fact that I'm freezing to death. Instead, I'll share with you what I was watching a few minutes ago. Its sometimes fun to brush up on this stuff that I learned ages ago and honestly didn't care about at the time, except to pass tests.

Wild Faith

Despite my weariness, there is still something in me that refuses to be molded
That refuses to die
That refuses to conform to what others think I should be

I'm no longer young
I was never beautiful
But damn it all, I'm me

Still
And in spite of your worst efforts
To hell with anyone who thinks I should not be allowed

To be

~Faith~

Golden Boy

Image found here.

A man who was terribly bold
Painted himself all in gold
Went to the nude beach
Which caused the ladies to screech
At his physique so fair to behold

Miles to Go Before I Sleep

Photo found here.

I have to get to a place where I know he can’t invade my dreams.
He came to me promising his love.
He brought me only madness.
I gave him everything, and he took it all.
Physically speaking, I can get away from him anywhere.
He doesn’t know me in life.
He doesn’t know where I live.
But every time I sleep, he comes to me.
Liar, liar, dirty, filthy liar.
He destroyed my ability to find love in life, because for the past twenty-seven years, I have loved only him.
If I go to another plane, to another dimension, I will have the upper hand at last.
The pills will facilitate my journey.
With my body out of the way, no more can he disturb my rest.
Each pill represents a mile.
I still have a few miles to go before I sleep.
Miles to go before I sleep.

The Divine Devil

The Divine Devil

Eggs that are deviled
I could consume by the dozen
Don’t need no toast or jam
Just eat ‘em and love ‘em

If you leave out a plate
Stacked with eggs that’re deviled
In fifteen minutes or less
The stack will be leveled

Love ‘em and leave ‘em?
Dude, not a chance
Chowing down on deviled eggs
Is better than romance

If you’re throwing a party
Best have a few eats
If you’ve got deviled eggs
You’ve got the best treats

Deviled eggs, you see
Are sophisticated and stylin’
But I don’t care about that
The taste leaves me smilin’

Mount Etna Erupts

Volcanic Eruption
by
Opal Zushaquon

There is beauty in the destruction
Of a volcanic eruption
As the earth cracks asunder
The magma bleeds forth from any resulting fissures
The ground ruptures
The ash in the atmosphere may cause lightning to slice through the sky
A pyroclastic cloud exploding poison and ash through the atmosphere rains death upon everything caught below
Yet observe the beauty of the fire
The magnificence of the magma flow.

Alphabe-Thursday: R is for Rain

R is for Rain
by
Tempest Nightingale LeTrope

I wish it would rain
Gloomy day with gray haze
Like the not quite sorrow in my brain

The sky won't cry
Neither will I
Guess neither of us have it in us to try

I have too much
But not enough
Too much trouble
Not enough of the right stuff

I wish it would rain
Wash away my weariness for just a while
I wish the sky would cry
So I wouldn't have to.

Continuity

Just one of those days
Moving boxes yet again
Continuity

Trying to get stuff out of a garage size storage unit by the end of the month when I'm my sole helper until my son has his spring break and can lend a hand really sucks! How did I ever accumulate this much junk?

Welcome to Poetry of the Netherworld

We are hoping that someday, if we write enough intense and breathtaking poetry, our works may be included in a fine volume such as this one:
Introduction to Epic Poetry, by Señor English

Friends, when Tempest first suggested creating a blog for poetry, The Real Cie said "Oh, Tosh! We have quite enough blogs!"
But she relented, for the members of Team Netherworld create quite a bit of poetry, and it would be nice to have a place to showcase it separately from the prose and exciting Netherworld News Updates.
So welcome, dear readers to Poetry of the Netherworld.
Do expect it to have that special Undead flavor that those of you who follow our Undead in the Netherworld blog know and love so well!

Cheers,
Tempest
