No Statute of Limitations on PTSD

No Statute of Limitations on PTSD

It doesn't matter that the rape happened going on twenty years ago.
It happened, and there is no statute of limitations on negative aftereffects.
Even when I don't think about it for a long time, I am never over it.
It happened, it changed my life, and it changed me.
Don't tell me to "get over it," as if I can simply drop that baggage on the floor and walk away.
There is no statute of limitations on PTSD.

In The Eye of the Beholder: For Sadie

She says that my eyes
Which I always thought boring
Are blue like sapphires

~Seth~

After 32 (going on 33) years of marriage, she still thinks so, which makes me as happy as the day she first said it!

Melancholy Spotlight

Depression the shade
Of a mocking peach street light
Glaring, remorseless

Notes:
I'm straight fucked up, even for a mentally ill person. I can't even do depression normal. Most people have their worst depression in the winter. My worst depression hits in the spring, and this year it's being a real bastard.
I know it's tempting to say things like "stay strong." Please don't. I'm one day older than dirt. I've survived this before, and in all likelihood I will again. I just wish I didn't have to. I also wish no-one else had to.

Extremely Me

Extremely Me

I’m too extreme

For this reality

The lot of you

Can’t handle the one of me

So I’m sending all my love

My devastated hopes

My broken dreams

Into my next life

The letter will say:

“Dear New Me,

Be true to you

Don’t let them take you down

Like you did last lifetime

Me”
