30 Days of Haiga 2022: Knot of Tears

text

knot of tears wraps tight

I wish that I had gone too

on the day you left

notes

The Senryu was inspired by this week's prompt from Six Sentence stories. Yes, I know this is only a Three Sentence story.

https://girlieontheedge1.wordpress.com/2022/09/18/sundays-six-sentence-story-word-prompt-230/

Prompt word: Knot

One of my favorite songs is Albatross by Judy Collins. It contains the line "the knot of tears around your throat is crystallizing into your design." I've always felt that line described me.

I created the Haiga with Pixlr.com and a free use image from Open Clipart Vectors.

OctPoWriMo 2019: Day 9: What My Eyes Saw

I Blinked and the World Was Gone
Photoshop Manipulation by The Real Cie

My eyes saw that in the end
Everything was just a lie
Seeing is not believing
Hearing is deceiving
Truth is but a silent sigh
Perspective nothing but perception
Reality is, on one hand, subjective
And on the other hand as objective
As a knife to the spine
My eyes are but windows
To the lies my soul tells

NaPoWriMo 2019: Day 4: Unwanted Girl

Image by lisa runnels from Pixabay

Will you ever leave
Me alone you damn
Stupid girl who I
Once happened to be
Why won't you be gone?

Why must you come
Back into my
Psyche why don't
You remain dead

Little girl
Zombie girl
Girl I was

Why don't
You stay

Gone

~Cie~

Notes:
The NaPoWriMo prompt was to write a sad poem.
Come on, y'all, that isn't even a challenge! I write two kinds of poems: dark and silly.
The form I used is a diminishing hexagram.
I really wish I'd done the A to Z challenge on this blog this year because I'm crushing it!
Oh, one more thing.
The effects of abuse and bullying last a lifetime.
I learned to hate myself long ago.
I still have trouble tolerating myself, still hear the cruel words admonishing me that I'm ugly, stupid, unwanted, and will never amount to anything.
It isn't like I'm eighteen and just out of school.
I'm fifty-four and the setbacks I've had during the past few years only reinforce the belief that I am nothing.

NaPoWriMo 2017: Day 17: N is for Nocturne

I want to sing you to sleep
When you wake
You will be far away from this place
And all the pain you have known
Remember who you are
Remember your kindness and your principles
Know that someone always loves you
More than anything
Please forget me
And the sorrows you've been through
In this terrible world
My heart will always be true
Only to you
Forget me, my love
For I can only bring you sorrow
And you have known more than enough of that
Sleep now
Wake again in the world of the Yellow Sun

OctPoWriMo 2016: Day 24: Fantastical

Fantastical

I never meant to hurt you, my dear love
In a world full of pain and suffering
You are an angel from above
I live for every message that you bring
You gave to me such comforting
Your Earthly situation made me grieve
In this world of othering
Your love became too fantastical to believe

We fit together like a hand in glove
I wanted to heal you with my nurturing
Never has another made me feel so beloved
But I so fear rejection's sting
It's my soul you'd end up murdering
I'm so afraid you'd only leave
That my need for you is smothering
Your love became too fantastical to believe

With soft feathers like a peaceful dove
I would stroke your angel wings
You were everything I was dreaming of
But I fear I don't deserve anything
So I end up losing everything
I fear to give and to receive
You were too good for this world to bring
Your love became too fantastical to believe

I gave you my heart on a string
Then left you alone to grieve
My sad angel with the broken wings
Your love became too fantastical to believe

V is for Ville-nelle

Ville Valo

There are styles that start with V which have already been invented, one of the most famous of which is the Villanelle. I was thinking of using that one, but then I thought to myself, why not instead pay tribute to one of the most talented modern vocalists and songwriters, Ville Valo of the fabulous Finnish melodic metal band H.I.M.? Thus, lovers of music and verse, I give you the Ville-nelle. First mine, and then a sample from the master.
Ville's song lyrics are characterized by dark and romantic subject matter. There is often a sense of longing or heartbreak, and the setting of the piece tends to allude to the supernatural.

Alone in the Night

Tossed about like driftwood on a stormy sea
I prayed that you would see me through the eyes of love
But there was nothing real within your heart for me
The angels turned their backs and closed off the heavens above
Left broken-hearted and alone in the night
There is no reason left for me to fight

I was just a toy to you, and nothing more
You don't know my heart is broken
Because you don't care at all
You got what you wanted, and you went on your way

You are a dark shadow hanging over my life
I try to escape the memories of you
But I can't find a way to tear you from my heart
Even in death, I'd only dream of you

Although you no more dream of me
You're still the only vision I see

~Tempest Nightingale LeTrope~

**************

 Kiss Of Dawn
Album: Venus Doom

Blinded I am and so are you
By shedding tears
Confusion that separates us two
We hold dear
Just look into my eyes
Kiss our fears good bye

[Chorus:]
I'm reaching for your shadow drowning in
The kiss of dawn
Touching the pain that you left me with
At the kiss of dawn

I'm tired of the games I'm playing with you
When you're not here
Death frees from the fear of dying
it's true, have no fear

Let me look into your eyes
and see death pass us by

[Repeat chorus 2x]

You've read it, now hear it!

S is for Shadow Sonnet

Standing In the Shadows Of

Shadow of my former self casts shadow
Over life I sometimes wish was over
Her broken dreams are all that's left of her
Wishing she had more than hopeless wishing

Disappointment causes disappointment
Soul haunted by dreams lost is a sad soul
Shattered wishes in a heart that's shattered
Impossible wishes impossible

Delusion begets only delusion
Sorrow can only beget more sorrow
Tomorrows replaced by new tomorrows
Her dreams of love impossible to her

Yesterday's dreams remain as yesterdays
Visions remain as only lost visions

~Cie~

Shadow Sonnet

The Shadow Sonnet was created by Amera M. Andersen, may be written in any sonnet style. The Shadow takes place at the beginning and ending of each line as the words are identical or homophonic. Since all poetry was originally meant to be sung or recited out loud, homophonic words are acceptable, these are words that sound alike such as “see and sea”. (Rules: 14 lines, 9 or 10 syllables per line. The poem should have a volta or pivit; iambic pentameter is not necessary.)

Example #1:

Spirit to Spirit

So many things have turned my spirit so.
Yet I do resist and yield to it yet.
Know that I give my strength for you to know.
Forget you? Nay, I shall never forget.

Left with my sandpaper dreams since you left.
Love lies in my spirit, for you my love.
Theft of your presence is not spirit theft.
Above all my dreams, I hold you above.

You now have returned, I knew it was you.
Waiting so long as my heart was waiting;
few have returned, yet you're one of the few.
Aching for you as my soul was aching.

War takes so many; yet, you've beaten war.
Door of my spirit, come enter my door.

Love is Like

Love is Like

Love is like
A knife through the heart
A whispered lie
A dream that you wake from weeping
A tsunami
A hurricane
A tornado

Love is like falling through space
Love is like a black hole
Love is a mystery
Love is always in the future
Love is something that happens to other people

Love is like an urban legend
Love is like the medication they put you on after an accident or an operation
Love is addiction
Love is withdrawal
Love is like being lost in a house of mirrors
Love is like loneliness
Only more so

~Koni~

Yesterday's Dreams

Yesterday's Dreams

It’s not likely that anyone will ring soon

Asking me to star on stage or screen

That ship long ago sailed away

On the dark water of yesterday’s

Dreams that never came true

Heart of Night

The night is filled with infinite lies
Most of them told by you
After what you've done, you ignore my cries
You think you're the only one whose feelings matter
You like to pretend you're misconstrued
But because of you, my heart is far sadder
I thought you were my sweetest dream
But this is completely untrue
For you have never been what you seem

Eyes

Image created by Cie Cheesemeister

Eyes
by
Eleonora Usher-Rigby

My eyes have seen you
But yours have never noticed me
I am not a pretty thing
I am not the kind of woman that men see
Or notice
Or remember

My heart has loved you
But yours has never noticed me
If you are not a pretty thing
You are not the kind of woman that men love
Or dream about
Or notice

Plain women go about life quietly
No-one thinks of us twice
It is a sad thing to know
That I have zero chance of catching your eye
Even less than that of holding your heart
The Gods did not grant me beauty

One night I dreamed of you
Your soul forgot the vanity of your eyes
Your heart forgot for a time the rule
Against loving something that is not pretty
But then you woke and remembered
And I was forgotten as before

My eyes have seen you
My heart has loved you
I have dreamed of you
And you of me
But you do not remember
And you do not notice me

~Eleonora~

A to Z Blogging Challenge: M is for Monody

A to Z Blogging Challenge:
M is for Monody
by
Illsa Gorrey

A monody is a poem of lament for the death of another.

July 16, 1981

Another summer day
Going to the pool with my brother
Sister had to work her shift at Dairy Queen
Hank and I planned to come by after swimming and bother her

At two o clock, Mom came to the pool
By the look on her face we knew something terrible had happened
Dad had been in an accident
He was in the hospital

There was never a chance
The guy driving the pickup was going 100 miles an hour
On the wrong side of the road, trying to pass the car ahead
The pickup hit Dad's motorcycle

Dad was wearing his helmet
He was always careful
It didn't matter at that speed
He was dead on arrival

I was fifteen years old
My father never made it to thirty-eight

Alphabe-Thursday: R is for Rain

R is for Rain
by
Tempest Nightingale LeTrope

I wish it would rain
Gloomy day with gray haze
Like the not quite sorrow in my brain

The sky won't cry
Neither will I
Guess neither of us have it in us to try

I have too much
But not enough
Too much trouble
Not enough of the right stuff

I wish it would rain
Wash away my weariness for just a while
I wish the sky would cry
So I wouldn't have to.
