Thalia and Cheesy hope that no-one will brand this girl using the awful label "tomboy." Girls can be active and adventurous, imagining themselves swashbuckling pirates or brave heroines. Boys can be quiet and bookish. Some people are both--like the crew members of Ye Goode Shippe Netherworld!

  1. Hey, I still envision myself as a pirate -- so to the girl in the photo I say, "you go, girl!" (And I see myself as a functional pirate - you know, swashbuckling and ship raiding - none of this 'pirate wench' crap.) Nice response to the prompt :)

    1. Exactly. If I'm gonna be a wench, I'm gonna be one that kicks ass!
Thanks for visiting, on behalf of Thalia and Cie.

  2. That's my kind of little girl - I was both bookish and adventurous when I was a kid. :)

    1. I was too. I loved to climb trees. I wore shorts under my dresses so I could hang upside down on the chinup bar without showing my underwear. I hated dresses, to be honest, but I'm old enough that I'm from the generation where girls primarily wore dresses.

  3. aloha Thalia and Cie. as much as that dream may be impossible i think it sounds ideal as well. and the next step of course is to bring it into reality. . . . fun on that. and playful on that too.

i find it interesting that i too was drawn to a playfulness that i associated with childhood around this prompt. both prompts. which i see you've incorporated into this one work. i'm thinking i may (if i get time to bring my second idea to fruition) use the book prompt on a future day (possibly in place of the prompt for that day—because of course we are not required to stick to the prompts). fun. and thank you for playing. aloha. rick

We're kicking around the idea of turning our Haigas into a little e-book that people can download for a buck. We'll see how that flies. If it happens, it's thanks to your prompts!

We love comments, with three caveats.
Be cool, Fool.
Don't be rude, Dude.
Don't be a prick, Slick.
That's all, Saul.
I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops and I share links where possible to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and such so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
