OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 22: Cie Tells Two Lies and a Truth

Whispering to ghosts
Fabulously confident
Malevolent fiend

Note:
I guess that this 5-7-5 form is called a senryu, which is an ironic or satirical short poem. It's a term that I only learned recently.
I think the piece has a bit of Halloweentime flavor, which I like. It's sort of like a pumpkin spice latte with a shot of rum, which I wish I could have.
Unfortunately, diabetes with a side of hypertension prohibits such enjoyment. I feel like a steaming pile of rombie ruh-roh when I drink alcohol, and the excess sugar from the pumpkin spice syrup isn't the best idea either. However, I may have an un-spiked pumpkin spice latte before the fall is out anyway, zombie pancreas be damned.

OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 15: Without Rejection

To just be myself
To tell the truth within me
And be accepted

Notes:
I suppose this is a "Senryu," as there is a sense of irony. However, it isn't satirizing anything. I would call it a "Haiku," but that would probably get me chastised by poetic purists.
I wanted to keep the poem very simple so as to force myself to say only what really needed to be said. I tend to run on if allowed.
The prompt asked us to imagine having a day where we could do anything we wanted, and to describe our wildest dreams. This is mine.
Also, I would be able to call my short 5-7-5 poems Haikus and not be chided for doing so.

NaPoWriMo 2015: Day 22: Cloudy Skies: A Pastoral Haiku

Cloudy Skies:
A Pastoral Haiku

Sky is overcast
Through the melancholy day
I wish it would rain

~Wanda~

Notes:
I wasn't feeling the shepherdess and field thing. I was struck by the sky today. It was nothing special, just overcast, one of those skies that does that annoying. "I'm gonna rain on you--no, really, I am!" thing all day. So I got to the point with a Haiku about the sky.

The Prompt:
And now for (as always, optional) prompt! Today is Earth Day, so I would like to challenge you to write a “pastoral” poem. Traditionally, pastoral poems involved various shepherdesses and shepherds talking about love and fields, but yours can really just be a poem that engages with nature. One great way of going about this is simply to take a look outside your window, or take a walk around a local park. What’s happening in the yard and the trees? What’s blooming and what’s taking flight?

And your tomorrows

For that guy you're all tired of hearing me write for and about, and I don't care.

A Year of Firsts

Someone let Cie loose in Photoshop again

A Year of Firsts

A Gift

You opened my heart
For the first time I know love
Wish I could heal you

A Double Shot for those who would judge my emotions

I shoot from the hip
For the first time in my life
He taught me that too

My experience
Was not lived for you to judge
Think first on your words

At First Light

First Light

You first came to me
At first light when the snow fell
Stay through the darkness

~Aurora~

Aurora's Notes:

Our team sometimes creates poems on behalf of our characters. These characters come from the work in progress "Fetch," a paranormal romance created by Team Netherworld member Rose LeMort.
This poem is written from the perspective of Pepper Baiij, a forty-seven year old spirit medium (specifically an empath and "spirit anchor"). While attempting to assist the fetch Gerry Clifford, she ends up falling in love with him and he with her.
A "fetch" is the apparition of a person whose body is still alive but is badly compromised, so they effectively function as a spirit.
Gerry first appeared to Pepper on the night that an arctic front moved in. He was badly frightened by a group of entities which operate as a unit and seem to be playing a waiting game, biding their time until Gerry's compromised brain reaches a certain state of deterioration, at which point he believes they intend to absorb the essence of his soul.
Pepper allowed Gerry to "anchor" himself to her so she could try to keep him safe, although she knew that by doing so she was risking a heartbreak of a kind she had sworn she would never allow herself to feel again.
The next day when Pepper woke up, she felt Gerry beside her. It was a day of sub-freezing temperatures and snow. Pepper needed to drive to her son's house and Gerry came with her. He became convinced that he and Pepper were both spirits in some area of hell, but that they could help each other. In working to try and comfort Gerry and help him see that he is not in an actual hell, she finds herself falling quickly and deeply in love with him and hoping that he will stay with her.

Supernova

Do the Cosmos weep
When a stellar explosion
Leaves all dead and calm

~Naila~

As the challenge goes, this poem is an epic fail. I succeeded with the first rule. I biffed the second and third. Whether I succeeded with the fourth is open to interpretation. I did not succeed at the fifth. The poem does have a deeper meaning, but I doubt anyone will be able to determine what it is.

+ 5-7-5 syllables
+ a seasonword (kigo)
+ a cuttingword (kireji, in western mostly interpunction)
+ a moment as short as the sound of a pebble thrown in water
+ interchangable first and third line
+ a deeper meaning

Note from Wanda:
I said I'd never write (at least publicly) another poem after the fiasco that happened the last time I tried. But I have done so here. Please be kind.
