Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #108 + OctPoWriMo 2019: Day 26: What Is Unspoken (Choka)

what is unspoken
in the silence of autumn
is what I'm feeling
"speak your truth," the leaves whisper
but what can I say?
I'm biting my tongue
because what I want to say
is I still love you
wish you hadn't gone away
please come back to me
walk alongside me again
the crunching of leaves
sweeter walking together

Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #100: Indian Summer

I
after a warm day
a thin layer of fresh fallen snow
covers the garden

after a warm day
sweat slick on the back of neck
I dream of autumn

a thin layer of fresh fallen snow
on some faraway mountains
elsewhere but not here

covers the garden
there are not that many trees
a few fallen leaves

II
Indian Summer
inbetween seasons
roses bloom again

Indian summer
this was never his color
he was always pale

inbetween seasons
he exists between the worlds
observing sorrow

roses bloom again
another life lies ahead
the thought is tiresome

Notes:
The "sleighs" of these Troiku were created by Chèvrefeuille. The horses of the apocalypse were wrangled into a story poem or collective of disjointed and depressive thoughts by me. Happy Pumpkin Spice Senryu to you.

NaPoWriMo 2019: Day 2: Where Are You: A Ballad for Gerry

Image by Jan Alexander from Pixabay

Where are you, my darling one
With your eyes blue as the skies
And green as the faraway sea
When will you come home to me

Where are you, my dearest love
Floating like a dream through the world unseen
I didn't mean for things to go so wrong
You faded away like an old album's last song

Where are you, my heart's one hope
My angel from above who gave me all his love
I was so afraid of being used
My heart was broken and confused

Where are you, my sweet, lost dream
The one so unexpected who left my soul infected
I can't get you off of my mind
I need to see you one last time

Where are you, my shining star
My tears flow like the streams that wind throughout my dreams
I've finally learned to be strong
Enough to tell you I was wrong

Where are you now, my gentle ghost
I'd walk down the longest track just to take my cruel words back
My love for you is strong
You were so right and I was wrong

Where have you gone, my love?
Where have you gone?

Mad For You

Secret Fates Version 11:
The Door to my Heart
Photoshop Manipulation by The Real Cie

Love is always a lie, but you're no liar
You said you loved me
You set my world on fire

I've never been a winner, only a trier
You asked me to give it a try with you
Love is always a lie, but you're no liar
Once bitten twice shy, but I'm even shyer
You said I was just what you needed
You set my world on fire

I've always been the rebel and defier
I defied my own rules to be with you
Love is always a lie, but you're no liar

Did you have any notion of what loving me would require?
I have no ability to trust although I love you so much
You set my world on fire

It's still burning

Notes:
Today the assignment was to take a Sylvia Plath poem and write a response to it. My favorite has always been Mad Girl's Love Song. Sadly, I have been able to resonate all too well with this poem in my life. Love has not been kind to me.
Here is the original.

Mad Girl's Love Song

"I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead;
I lift my lids and all is born again.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

The stars go waltzing out in blue and red,
And arbitrary blackness gallops in:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I dreamed that you bewitched me into bed
And sung me moon-struck, kissed me quite insane.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

God topples from the sky, hell's fires fade:
Exit seraphim and Satan's men:
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.

I fancied you'd return the way you said,
But I grow old and I forget your name.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)

I should have loved a thunderbird instead;
At least when spring comes they roar back again.
I shut my eyes and all the world drops dead.
(I think I made you up inside my head.)"
