Carpe Diem #1777: A Fusion of Seasons

cricket silence
between scraping sounds
autumn begins

summer fishing done
as the crickets fall silent
autumn now begins

summer fishing done
we must prepare for winter
weather is too warm

as the crickets fall silent
will they return in the spring
species fall extinct

autumn now begins
the season that I love best
should not be so warm

Notes:
We were asked to create a fusion Haiku from the first two poems and then create a Troiku from the fusion Haiku. The Three Horses of the Apocalypse led my sleigh to weather that is unseasonably hot and dry. It should not be close to 80 degrees in Colorado in November. So I got all environmentally conscious on everyone and turned my Troiku to a Senryu, because that's the kind of thing I do.

  1. The seasons do seem to be shifting, although we’ve already had frost and some parts of the UK have had snow. I love mist and fog, don’t mind rain, but snow can be quite scary, especially for driving. I lit the fire this weekend, so it’s quite cosy. I’m glad you included the lines about species becoming extinct – some people seem to ignore the effects of climate change and we must keep on reminding them.

    1. I don't mind driving in light fog, but heavy fog scares me and can make me feel claustrophobic. We ran into a patch of heavy fog the other morning that went on for miles and I had to pull off the road and walk for a minute to calm myself. Not very good to be driving while having a panic attack!
I hate driving in snow. Some of the people around here are far braver than I am! They're out and about in all kinds of weather.

We love comments, with three caveats.
Be cool, Fool.
Don't be rude, Dude.
Don't be a prick, Slick.
That's all, Saul.
I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops and I share links where possible to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and such so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
