OctPoWriMo 2018: Day 15: If Hope Were an Umbrella


If hope were an umbrella
It would be full of holes
An unreliable shield
Allowing all manner of projectiles through
A farce offering the illusion of shelter
But in reality, only granting cover in fair weather
Affording no protection when storms arise

      When I was younger I tried to convince myself that it was just me, and if I could just stop being a "Debbie Downer," I would be rewarded with a Magical Rom-Come Happy Ending!!111!!
      I am far less melodramatic than I used to be, but I believe in the Magical Rom-Com Happy Ending less than ever these days.
