OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 13: The Risk of Being Myself

The Risk of Being Myself

If I'm honest with myself
I know I'll never be
Like everybody else

The fear of being exposed
Kept me from taking the chance
Of expressing myself with honesty

Engaging all my senses
I begin the journey
Of learning what it is to be me

OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 12: Dream Time

Asleep
Beautiful dreamer
Come to me
Dream of being together
Eyes closed as you wander
Free to become who you are
Gone are the ties that bind you
Heart beating steady in your breast you breathe
Into the night your soul roams, come to me
Just as you are, just as you always should be
Kiss me softly in the light of the full moon now
Let me love you as I long to, as you long for
Make me happier than I ever imagined being until you came to me
Night folding us in its dark embrace as we draw ourselves together
Only our love matters, our love will last for all time
Precious moments found together under cover of the night sky
Quickly now, before the dawn tears us apart again
Realize the longing within both heart and soul
Sweetly soothe away the sorrows within us
Try to hold each other close
Undying love, unending embrace, unstoppable
Victorious are we together
Xenic we are
Yearning hearts
Zoneless

~Wanda~

Notes:
Xenic:  of, relating to, or employing a culture medium containing one or more unidentified organisms
I thought it would be fun to do a poem which consecutively used all the letters in the alphabet and counting, first up and then back down.

OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 11: I Did It My Way

I Did It My Way

When they sneered at me
And what I believe
When they tried to force me to see things their way
I went ahead and did it my way

When they told me I was zany
Said that my thoughts were evil
That I wasn't fit to be among decent people
I kept on doing it my way

When they called me nefarious
Said that I was consorting with the devil
Just because I talk to ghosts
I still did it my way

Sometimes their words made me unhappy
Many times my heart was broken
But lying about my truth would bring no joy
So I always did it my way

Perhaps to those in the mainstream
My beliefs seem a little extreme
But I always try to be good and do right
At the heart of it all, that's my way

~Spectra~

Notes:
I'm Spectra, and I do Tarot readings and speak to those beyond the veil. I've always had psychic abilities. I grew up in a small town, and the rumors flew. I got tired of trying to convince closed-minded people that I wasn't Satan's sister, so I just let them talk.
Eventually I moved away and didn't have to deal with them any more. Sadly, the world as a whole is rife with closed-minded attitudes.
It's hard to believe, but there are still plenty of people who think that "witch" equates with "devil worshiper."
If anyone else has esoteric beliefs or simply an open mind and a desire to make the world a better place, you might be interested in Team Netherworld's Open Minded Search for Truth page.
Truth is not one size fits all. We are all walking our own path. The one thing we all must do, first and foremost, is harm none. That includes not spreading lies about those whose paths are different from our own.

OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 10: Blood Lust

Damon and Stefan Salvatore

I'm warning you up front that this is Misty going fangirl.
If you find that puerile or beneath you somehow, turn back now

Blood Lust

Blood rushes through my veins
In a way previously unknown
I feel uninhibited

Screen capture

A dangerous lust for blood
Causes my untamed heart to hammer in my chest
As I dance into the fire

Image from fanpop

I smell the living warmth on which I yearn to feed
I do not seek to justify what I have become
I only seek to quell my insatiable need

Screen capture

I am vampire
I am intensity personified
I am life within death

~Misty~

Notes:
I was hooked on the Vampire Diaries from the start. I love the dynamics between the characters, particularly between the vampire brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore.
Damon and Stefan are actually very civilized vampires. They do a commendable job of controlling the need to feed. Nonetheless that blood lust is always just beneath the surface of their genteel presentation.
In any case, it wouldn't be Halloween Month, AKA October, without a vampire or two!

OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 9: The Elements of Heartbreak

The Elements of Heartbreak

When it rains
She feels as if the water
Is trying to douse the flickering ember
Which ignited her heart
In a spark
The fire is gone from his heart
But not from hers

She tries to find balance
In earthy things
Since he left her stranded
Alone in the frozen wastes
Of her dreams for their love
The sun rises
But does not warm her

A cool breeze blows
Calming like the sound of whispered hellos
Whipping up into a windstorm
Blowing out of control
Devastating everything she has known
In a cyclone of lies
And unexpected goodbyes

Dedicated to the ladies in my life who have known heartbreak.

Love,
Adam

OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 8: Rainbow Eyes

Lovely rainbow eyes
Changing with light and shadow
And your emotions

~Cie~

Notes:
Fae made me do this. I said "wouldn't it be cool if I could..." and she countered with "well, why can't you?"
"It would be sappy, silly and emotional," I said. "I'd look foolish."
"Maybe you shouldn't worry about looking foolish," she said. "Maybe it's more important to be real than to worry about appearances."
You have me there, Honey. These poems over the last few days have spoken of being brave. I sometimes have trouble being brave enough to express what I really think. Well, here it is, for better or worse. Now it's on you to take it or leave it.
I'm the one who created the top graphic. I noticed that there are some people whose eyes change colors with the light. The person whose eye I display in the graphic has very expressive, color-changing eyes. It's a bit enviable, really. My eyes are always a plain, mossy green.
I chose Haiku as my mode of expression in this case, because I'm the kind who can go on and on and on if allowed. Haiku forces me to target the bulls-eye and focus on just the critical points.
