OctPoWriMo 2015: Day 8: Rainbow Eyes

Lovely rainbow eyes
Changing with light and shadow
And your emotions

~Cie~

Notes:
Fae made me do this. I said "wouldn't it be cool if I could..." and she countered with "well, why can't you?"
"It would be sappy, silly and emotional," I said. "I'd look foolish."
"Maybe you shouldn't worry about looking foolish," she said. "Maybe it's more important to be real than to worry about appearances."
You have me there, Honey. These poems over the last few days have spoken of being brave. I sometimes have trouble being brave enough to express what I really think. Well, here it is, for better or worse. Now it's on you to take it or leave it.
I'm the one who created the top graphic. I noticed that there are some people whose eyes change colors with the light. The person whose eye I display in the graphic has very expressive, color-changing eyes. It's a bit enviable, really. My eyes are always a plain, mossy green.
I chose Haiku as my mode of expression in this case, because I'm the kind who can go on and on and on if allowed. Haiku forces me to target the bulls-eye and focus on just the critical points.

  1. Good senryu. I'd love to change my blue eyes to brown.

My eyes have elements of blue, green and brown and change according to the light, and possibly with what I'm wearing. It's pretty cool!

    1. Thank you on behalf of Cie. I love the mood ring analogy!
I've never been very good at maintaining a poker face, myself. My eyes are only part of what betrays what I'm really feeling.

  6. Love both haiku and note at the bottom :D My youngest and I love to compare eye color, her eyes change from hazel to an emerald green depending on how she is feeling on that day. Life is full of both color and change.

  7. I like your commentary as much as your poem. Well said.

  8. Beautiful! I'm one of those with the color-changing eyes, as you know. My man says they turn a kind of amber color in the candlelight. I can never get enough of hearing things like that. :-)

    1. I imagine you and D spend a lot of time gazing into each other's eyes. It's a beautiful thing!

  9. A nice haiku (senryu). I call them all haiku. I always wondered if eyes changing colors was a reality. But light does have great powers.

    1. I call them all Haiku as well. It's my understanding that a Senryu is an ironic or satirical poem. This piece is neither.

That's all, Saul.
