I often wonder at where we came from. The idea that we're just a sad bunch of soulless cells milling about the world body waiting to die is far too depressing, but the thought that we are all being scrutinized by an abusive parent for a determination whether we should be allowed to spend eternity in luxury or torment based on how well we kowtowed is awful as well. I don't think either of these is correct, myself.
