November PAD Challenge 2021: Turkey Trouble (A Silly Senryu)

Sun tea is good. I'm not so sure about sun turkey.

I must laugh out loud
recalling raw roast turkey
I know better now

~ornery owl~

notes
After yesterday's heavy load, I decided to go light-hearted. 2019 was the first year that I tried to roast a whole turkey. The slow-roasting procedure that I used did not work out marvelously and the turkey was still raw at the bone even after 18 hours in the oven. Since then, I have purchased an idiot-proof countertop roaster, which works beautifully.

If you'd like more information on the roaster I bought and why I like love it, read the following post.

  1. Reminds me of when my friends and I tried to have a Friends-giving, but none of us knew how long a turkey would take to cook! We ate dessert first and turkey last. :)

  2. I had one of those disasters back in the 60s ... trying to prepare a turkey for my Mother and Stepfather. Horrible. Your senryu is great!

  3. Haha! (The counter-top roasting oven sound so good I started thinking I should get one – then I remembered I don't eat turkey or roast anything anyway.)

  6. Ha ha! In 2019 I covered my turkey with tin foil and it kind of steamed and fell off the bone. Now I have no confidence in turkey roasting.

  7. I've avoided cooking a turkey for fear of under-cooking. I tried baking once and failed.
    Cheers to your successes!

  9. The image and your haiku also made me chuckle, Cie! Oh do I have stories to tell! Maybe between us... we will have a fully cooked dinner! Thank you!

  10. I laughed right along with you and your senryu, remembering the time my brothers decided to fry a whole turkey. The thing was burned on the outside and nearly frozen inside. It was a hoot.
