November PAD Chapbook Challenge 2021: The Book of Delights

from inside my bubble, or maybe from outside yours
I canvassed your activities and proclivities
your enterprises and exercises fascinated and inspired
I wished I could be part of your world

I canvassed your activities and proclivities
I would have loved to grace a canvas with your image
I wished I could be part of your world
but could not find a way to breach the bourne between us

I would have loved to grace a canvas with your image
I inscribed your name in the book of delights
but could not find a way to breach the bourne between us
now the hour has grown too late

I inscribed your name in the book of delights
alas, the dream of amour shall never be born
now the hour has grown too late
grief for a potential lost is borne by me alone

alas, the dream of amour shall never be born
lucky in love means unlucky at cards so they say
grief for a potential lost is borne by me alone
as it happens, I'm lousy at playing cards too

lucky in love means unlucky at cards so they say
as time goes by I take comfort in tradition
as it happens, I'm lousy at playing cards too
It's time for fresh starts, a change of direction

as time goes by I take comfort in tradition
to quiet the ache within for what was lost or never happened
it's time for fresh starts, a change of direction
sometimes on cool nights, I remember my old dreams

to quiet the ache within for what was lost or never happened
your enterprises and exercises fascinated and inspired
sometimes on cool nights, I remember my old dreams
from inside my bubble, or maybe from outside yours

prompts

Prompt: Write a luck poem.
Some might say that the poem I wrote illustrates bad luck, but I'm not sure it does. It simply illustrates an outcome. It is what it is.

Prompt: Write a Pantoum
I guess what I wrote is a Pantoum. Poets.org does not indicate that a Pantoum needs to rhyme. The Society of Classical Poets suggests that it does. Decide for yourself.

Three prompts to choose from.
Write a story from inside a bubble.
Augmented reality
Metaverse

I wrote a poem involving bubbles and, to some degree, including a metaverse, as there were a few potential outcomes.

  1. I dont often write form poetry, but the pantoum is my favourite. It works very well with the subject matter. I resonate with checking out potential venues, finding them not a good fit, and moving on......this is how we find the places where we belong. Very well written pantoum.

  2. It seems to me that there are too many rules in poetry. The more rules I know, the more I 'break' or 'modify' to suit my needs. I shan't be bound by the term 'expert'but perhaps just by the words that sometimes appear to write themselves :)

I enjoyed how you tied the prompts together.

We love comments, with three caveats.
Be cool, Fool.
Don't be rude, Dude.
Don't be a prick, Slick.
That's all, Saul.
I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops and I share links where possible to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and such so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
