Today's prompt is silence. We're supposed to sit quietly and listen. This is what I hear.
The Quiet Scream of Chronic Pain
It's never quiet
In a body where pain is
always chattering
~Cie~
The only place where you can dream
Living here is not what it seems
--Iron Maiden, Strange World I just want to walk right out of this world 'cause everybody has a poison heart. --The Ramones
We love comments, with three caveats.
Be cool, Fool.
Don't be rude, Dude.
Don't be a prick, Slick.
That's all, Saul.
I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops and I share links where possible to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and such so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
Aww, just want to give you a hug. This is a very effective and lovely (and sad) haiku. Nicely done, don't be so hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteVery powerful poem! I know people who suffer with chronic pain. I am sure they would agree with you 100 percent.
ReplyDeleteI know this chattering, and this poem is utterly effective in its simplicity. x

Excellent. And painful.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for visiting and for your kind comments. The workload at my place of employment has increased greatly in the past month, and shows no signs of abating. I'm having trouble adjusting and am worried about my ability to continue at this job. This poetry exercise helped me put my feelings into words.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes "chatter" too much in my poetry. I thought that Haiku would force me to be a little more "silent" in my writing.
And how! Not only is this a lovely poem, but it is truth. When the body is free of discomfort the mind is lightened immeasurably.
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine, on behalf of Cie. :0)
