Schadenfreude

waiting for the process server sucks

Day 12: Write a 6-word poem

Day 13: Write a lucky or unlucky poem.
Take a guess what kind of poem this is.

This is one of those garbage-ass days, Folks. If you want to find out why you can read this post, so I don't have to repeat myself.

There are cool prompts for the last couple of days from NaPoWriMo and some of the other places that I get ideas from, but this shitty slice of life stands on its own.

Two Perspectives

A Letter from Cie to the Cosmic Bakery
Dear Cosmic Chef,
Was it fair of you to make me a mind that loves cooking up big dreams but has no freedom to fulfill them?

I asked you to make me pretty so that all of my dreams would come true.

I wanted to cook up amorous adventures with many handsome men on my dance card.

The door chime would jingle merrily, and there would be Tom or Dick or Harry, or Bill or George, or maybe Joe.

Or maybe my friend Sue would ring me, and we'd make merry on a double date with our charming cookies.

I'd only keep company with sophisticated Jimmies, never silly sausages playing a lame game, trying to tame me and keep me tethered to a stove.

My star would shine bright like sugar sparkles beneath the Hollywood sign.

The crowds would ooh and ahh as I strode down the red carpet in my chiffon gown with my honey-gold locks, gleaming smile, and soft, peaches-and-cream skin.

And when I found my Mr. Right, I would settle down in a delicious mansion with a panoramic view.

I would have my pick of the most substantial parts in the tastiest movies.

And, of course, my multitudes of adoring fans would drool over me.

In retrospect, I can see why you thought Hollywood was wrong for my tastes.

But why didn't you see fit to give me even a morsel of talent?

Or even the smallest sprinkling of pizazz?

I understand that people dislike me because I have the personality of mildewed marzipan.

I could accept the fact that only the most half-baked mind could envision me as erotic.

But giving me the appearance of a blob of gritty icing atop a melted ice cream cake left sitting in the sun?

I won't stand for it, and I demand a refund.

Cie the Ornery Old Lady

A Reply from the Cosmic Bakery

Dear Cie,
Apologies for cooking you up ahead of or behind your time and delivering you to the wrong Universe. It was unfortunate timing that the good men were already taken and you were related to the ones who hadn't been snapped up. We will try to improve our delivery on future orders.

We were bored with the surplus of bland, attractive dishes on your Universe's menu, so we stirred up a blend of uncommon attributes to create the unique stew that is you. Admissibly, you are an acquired taste that most individuals will not acquire. We cannot be held responsible for the lack of taste in the residents of your Universe.

We are unable to issue a refund at this late date, but we promise a deep discount on future orders. We trust that you will understand.

Sincerely,
Your Cosmic Chefs

Lunch Break: 2743: Prayers and Goods Wishes to the people of St Vincent as The Soufrière  Volcano  becomes active again  DURING THIS WEEK

I would prefer volcanoes that spewed blossoms too.

Get Bent! (The Walker Strikes Back): A Choka

The Thing of Evil in front of the house where my son and I live.
I cannot imagine why the hell anyone would want to use this picture, but please credit me if you do.

Here's a Choka composed by my walker. To understand why my walker is miffed at me, you will want to read the preceding poem, composed by me.

I did not cause you
your physical compromise
you crabby old bag

don't you revile me
when other people talk down
about your body

your hostility
you're misdirecting at me
you can just get bent

your anxiety
their societal bias
these imprison you

you still revile me
you say I make you look bad
though I set you free

I didn't break you
although I cannot mend you
I will support you
if you will allow me to

~cie's walker~

Day 9: Write a persona (inanimate object) poem. The poem was written from my walker's POV.

Day 10: Write a Get (blank) poem. As you can see, the walker is telling me to get bent for writing an unkind poem about it.

Write a poem about the body or its parts. While the poem's approach is indirect, it references my frustrations at how broken my body is and about using an assistive device to get around.

Day 9: Write a to-do list poem.
I didn't do this.

Day 10: Write a junk drawer poem.
My body is kind of a junk drawer of mismatched, poorly working parts. I sometimes wonder if I'm not a Frankenstein monster that Young God cobbled together before he made man in his own image and perfected that experiment when he made woman.

I eventually escaped from my cage and came down to terrorize Earth. God said, "meh, let her go, she'll come home eventually."

One might say, "but Cie, since you're a woman, aren't you part of that perfected class?"

The thing is, I've never felt like I was a woman. I'm not implying that I have gender dysphoria or that I'm some sort of third sex. I'm fully aware that I'm female, and I'm fine with being female except for the way females are treated, and, to be honest, my periods were pure hell and I could have done without that mess, but it is what it is. Hence why I'm a feminist and not the fun kind.

What I mean is I never felt like I'm what a woman is supposed to be. I'm not small or pretty or delicate. I may, in fact, be fiercely and wonderfully made, but nobody on this planet is ever going to realize that. Honestly, I've never felt like I was even human because I've always been ridiculed and never found a place to belong.

~cie the feeble-minded cripple~

If all you wanted was the poem, then step on out, 'cause we're done here.

If, on the other hand, you want to stick around for the notes, then be warned that you do so at your peril.

And now it's time for the obligatory

CONTENT WARNING

Buckle up, Bitches, it's about to get sarcastic and sweary.

Before anyone jumps down my throat, please note that my chosen signature is both sarcasm and illustrative of how people treat me because my back is fucked up and using an upright walker, which I bought with money from the first stimulus check because fuck if Medicaid is going to pay for it, is, apparently, a sign that I'm not only physically broken but feeble-minded as well.

When I stroll along using my walker, people treat me like an idiot child, giving me attagirls, telling me I'm an "inspiration" (for what? Walking down the fucking street?), and generally talking down to me as if I have the I.Q. of peanut butter. I seriously resent this because I know for a fact that I have the I.Q. of peanut butter AND jelly.

I guess it would be nobler if I was still hobbling around dragging my right leg behind me and leaning up against signposts as my back screams in protest and shoots lightning bolts down my leg. At least then I'd be "just a little slow" rather than an obviously incapacitated feeb.

Again, I'm expressing how people treat me for, of all fucking things, using a god damn upright walker. I loved my walker when I first got it because I could truck along for more than a quarter-mile before it became too painful and I had to head home. I thought the walker was kind of pretty too with its sparkly blue finish. At this point, I hate the fucking thing and it's hard to convince me to leave my house.

People using assistive devices aren't subnormal defectives, and we don't want to hear about how we're "so inspiring." We just want to be able to get around, FFS.

By the way, in the United States, assistive devices such as my walker, and, yes, glasses, are seen as luxuries. You want to be able to get around and to see clearly while doing so, you lazy, impoverished shitbag? Get fucked.

That's a wrap on this rant.

Day 7: Villain poem

https://www.writersdigest.com/write-better-poetry/2021-april-pad-challenge-day-7

The walker and the people making me not want to use it are both the villains in this drama.

Day 8: Metaphor poem

https://www.writersdigest.com/write-better-poetry/2021-april-pad-challenge-day-8

The walker is a metaphor for the condescension that I experience because of my disability.

I don't know if I achieved perfection with this poem, but like me, it is what it is.

I never thought that my health would be this compromised in my mid-fifties. I thought I'd work until I was 70 and then go traveling. My endocrine problems and physical injuries plus my overall poverty bitch-slapped that pipe dream into the abyss hard and fast.

I didn't do this.

Day 8: Spoon River Anthology

I didn't do this either.

Beloved Companions

The walker is my companion, and I really loved it at first. At this point, it's a love-hate relationship without much love.

Similar Houses (Tanka)

Free use image from Pixabay

similar houses
dark havens for Stepford girls
sinister shelters
mold and shape little women
made delicate like china

~cie~

Little girls are often forced to change into obedient little ladies, giving up their dreams, ambitions, and sense of adventure to make them ready to live lives as what women are supposed to be, not what they actually are.

https://mindlovemiserysmenagerie.wordpress.com/2021/04/04/mlmm-sunday-writing-prompt-three-senses/
To be honest, I utilized the picture for inspiration and condensed my memories of my sense of what it meant to be a girl into a few lines of poetry. I was aware early on that girls were expected to sacrifice their "impractical" dreams, aspiring instead to find and support the "perfect" man, then to take his surname and give birth to and raise his descendants. I remember that even at a young age, I found this edict for women extremely unfair.

https://www.napowrimo.net/1942-2/

Today's assignment was to find a line in a favorite book, write a poem based on that line, then change the poem's title.
I found a line in one of the poems I wrote during the past few days, wrote a poem based around that line, then didn't change the title because I think it fits this poem perfectly.

The three things were the words adventure, china, and ready. I used one of the words (china) in the poem and two in the notes. The poem is far from light-hearted, but there isn't any cussing, so I guess that it's family-friendly.

The First Fool

Guess I'm not the first fool to spin on my axel
Mad as a hatter over you
I can't help but magnify your glory
The hold you have on my heart feels like a vise

Yes, I let you trespass in my head
Take over my mind like an opium addiction
Blow out my brain with one sensual gesture
Terrorize me with your wicked caprice
I tell myself I need to remain elastic

By myself flooded with a cascade of desire
Staying home waiting for your call for months
I can taste the sweetness of you on my palate
How can I live without you any longer?
Hoping today you'll finally notice
Hating myself for loving you

Mad melodies marauding through my mind
Make me want to defy reality
How can I lift myself above this insanity?
All I want to do is fly to you
I need you now, don't make me wait forever

Bleeding my heart out trying to figure
Some way to sow the seeds of love in your soul
I wish I was worthy to dine at your table
How can I rise to your level when I'm so far below?
How can I put my name on the tip of your tongue?
How can I make your gorgeous voice sigh that you feel the same way as I?

~cie~

This prompt challenges you to find a poem, and then write a new poem that has the shape of the original, and in which every line starts with the first letter of the corresponding line in the original poem.

Well...

I didn't use a poem, I used a song: Hopelessly Devoted To You by Olivia Newton-John. I used the first letter of every line, but beyond that, I took a whole lot of liberties.
