Forbidden Imagination

Why is what we imagine
Why are the things that bring us joy
Thought to be the product of drinking too much coffee
Why do we laugh at those with their heads in the clouds
Without imagination, no-one would have thought to build a rocket
Without imagination, there would be no music

Why are those who like to hear music
Why are those who live to imagine
Those who dream of taking off in a rocket
Often punished for wanting to find joy
Often brought roughly down from the clouds
Forever told to wake up and smell the coffee

Why are those who like clouds in their coffee
Told that they are wrong for loving music
Brought down brutally from the clouds
Told that they should not imagine
Then ordered to feel joy
Though their truth has been destroyed by a rocket

Why are dreams not allowed to take flight like a rocket
Why must we lead lives that mandate too much coffee
Why is there so little room for joy
Why must we always silence the music
Why are we not allowed to imagine
What is wrong with living in the clouds

I would rather spend a lifetime in the clouds
Dreaming of taking off in a rocket
Living in the world I imagine
Choosing the time when I'll drink my coffee
Listening and dreaming to my music
This is the kind of life where I feel joy

This world has always destroyed my joy
Ordered me to come down from the clouds
Told me I couldn't have the music
Shot down my dreams with a rocket
Made me drink too much coffee
Told me that I was stupid to imagine

Imagine the joy
Coffee full of clouds
Rocket launching to a realm filled with music

  1. I think you did a great job of visualizing the words in different contexts but keeping the cohesiveness.

  2. Good questions, I've often wondered the same thing. Some of the greatest minds never even finished school, they were too busy floating in the clouds, imagining a better world. Thank you for your words. I always enjoy reading them. I apologize for not being here sooner, my moods get the better of me sometimes.

We love comments, with three caveats.
Be cool, Fool.
Don't be rude, Dude.
Don't be a prick, Slick.
That's all, Saul.
I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops and I share links where possible to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and such so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
