Fetch: Sexy Walks In: A Poem by Pepper Baiij for Gerry Clifford

Sexy walks in
And he
Doesn’t look like the cover of GQ
He isn’t tall or muscle-bound
He’s not decked out in the latest fashion
He really hasn’t any idea
Of the fire he ignites
Like a million megaton bomb
Boom, Baby!
**************

Sexy walks in
And honestly
He’s a quiet little mouse
A shy little thing that most women
Wouldn’t pay the least bit of attention
They don’t know what they’ll miss
But I know that his kiss
Would start a fire in me
That will burn forever
*******************

Sexy walks in
And he doesn’t have any idea
That he has stolen my heart
That I’d do anything to be his lover
But I want so much more
Than undercover passion
I want to be his forever
Beyond the end of time
I want to be his only love
*******************

Sexy walks in
And walks out with my heart

Monody For The Grounded Traveler

The gates of the cemetery where there is a memorial bench with my father's name inscribed

His colleagues didn’t understand him or his work, yet they were always offering him suggestions for how to do it better.

He taught liberal arts disciplines in a school where science was law and letter

He was often angry and unhappy during his first year at the college

It seemed his colleagues really didn't respect him or his knowledge

Over the years his colleagues changed, and his situation improved as well

He no longer felt such a burning, pressing need to reform and rebel

Sadly, he never got to fulfill his dreams of travel

Shortly after retirement, his plans all came unraveled

A stroke felled him just four days after his birthday 2004

The restless wanderer within couldn't go roaming any more

He died late in 2010 after several years decline

I hope he now is traveling to every place he had in mind

And then some.

For my dad

My childhood nickname was Butterfly because of my love for butterflies

I Remember

I remember when I found out I was going to lose you
There was nothing that could he done to save you
That you would be dead before the weekend was done

I remember feeling as if a nuclear bomb had hit
That I was still alive seemed a cruel joke
How could I be expected to live without you?

I remember feeling frozen inside after you were released from your dying body
Instead of releasing the pain in my soul through tears
I became cold and angry

Little friend who brought joy to my sad heart
Forever I remember

Because I am using my tablet tonight, I could not really follow the prompt exactly as written. The photos of Lafayette were taken by me, and I limited my word count to 100.

Write about something you remember

I hope you folkers realize that it is very difficult to compose a poem when tears are fogging up your glasses and blurring your already less than perfect vision.

This shaky selfie actually is a pretty accurate illustration of what it's like to be inside my soul on a bad day. Today was a pretty bad day. This has been a really bad spring for my depression.

Tea Time in the Netherworld

Sadly I never got to meet any of you while you were alive
But once we are all in spirit together, I'm hoping you might want
To come have a spot of tea with me, so I can sit and listen to
You relive your lives in stories of wild times, triumph and tragedy

You were more than your stories, I know, you were real people, heart and soul
Lemmy, who pulled no punches, rough outsides but a heart of gold within
David, a real star who brought magic from the stars, a true gentleman
Alan the thespian, bringing Severus Snape to amazing life

Prince, diminutive giant, royally blessed with talent supreme
Chyna, gentle, troubled soul, no-one really ever understood
Sad, delicate Malcolm, body still here but spirit already gone
Our sweet beasties; if you think cats don't drink tea, you didn't know our cats

I'm not trying to be pushy, I hope I'm not asking for too much
But if you have a moment in your busy afterlife, you might like
To perhaps take just a minute and stop to have a wee spot of tea
To maybe stay a while, and spend the afternoon with Adam and Cie
