Book Blurb:

Bite-sized horror stories are brought to you by thirteen authors. From creepy crawlies to the seemingly normal pets. From hideous monsters lurking in the dark to charismatic people showing their true colors.

Each tale is precisely 100 words and leaves a long-lasting chilling effect. Some will make you question the security of the world around you, and what’s more terrifying than that?

Featuring drabbles from Storm Lomax, Jonathan Reddoch, Zari Hunt, Kellee Kranendonk, Andreas Flögel, Simon Clarke, Jacek Wilkos, Ferenc K. Zoltán, Vanessa Bane, C.L. Hart, Natascha Eschweiler, Angela Zimmerman, and J.E. Feldman.

Pre-Excerpt Information

I wrote this drabble along with 29 others for potential inclusion in The Damned, an anthology of drabbles from Dragon Soul Press. I submitted this one for potential inclusion, but it didn't make the cut.

So, why in the world am I sharing it here?

Because there are approximately 3 more weeks until the anthology is published. My contract stipulates that I can't share more than 500 words from the anthology prior to publication. That's all five of my selected stories. So, what in the heck would I share the rest of the time?

The other drabbles that didn't make the cut for this anthology, of course!

The Orb

Israel Evensen was the kind of kid who insisted upon empirical evidence for everything. Therefore, the little purple and gold orb that had been following him everywhere for the past two weeks stymied him. Nevertheless, it seemed quite real.

Israel wondered if the appearance of the orb meant he was schizophrenic like his mother, although there were no other signs he had manifested the disease. In truth, he found the presence of the globe comforting, even if it sometimes appeared to be analyzing him as he would a specimen on a microscope slide. He couldn’t risk losing his only friend.

Notes

I've been aggressively sharing the limited edition Hot and Sticky anthology from Passionate Ink, which will be pulled from publication on October 30th. If you'd like to read excerpts from my (Lil DeVille's) story, The Liberation of Mac MacCarrick, visit the official Naughty Netherworld Press blog.

I also want to tell you about an upcoming event where readers can win free books and other good stuff and authors can share their stories. I will be giving away one copy of Hot and Sticky and one copy of The Damned.

I wrote this drabble along with 29 others for potential inclusion in The Damned, an anthology of drabbles from Dragon Soul Press. I didn't even submit this one as it is a supernatural erotic romance, not horror.

So, why in the world am I sharing it here?

Midnight Fascinations

Berach Novak wasn’t sure he believed the rosary Father Baumgardner had given him would grant him protection. Further, he wasn’t sure he wanted to behave in accordance with the doctrine he’d grown up with. If he was honest, he hoped that putting red satin sheets on the bed might prompt a return from the strangely compelling midnight visitor with the tall, muscular body and long, black hair cascading over his shoulders.

“I can’t come in unless invited,” the visitor told him.

Berach prayed one Hail Mary before placing the rosary in his nightstand and calling out, “come to me now!”

Pepper's Fetch

Beautiful Boy Version 13
Photoshop Manipulation by The Real Cie

I can feel you near
I can see you in my mind
But not with my eyes

From Pepper
With love for Gerry

Notes:
I believe we technically followed the prompt today. We were asked to create a poem about something magical. Gerry Clifford certainly qualifies.
Pepper initially encountered Gerry while working in a retirement community on the night shift. Gerry was not a resident of said retirement community, located in Lawrence, Kansas. He was thousands of miles away in London. However, his physical brain was badly impaired. He was a spirit still attached to his body, a being described in Irish folklore as a "Fetch."
Pepper knew who Gerry was. He was drawn to her by the intensity of her sadness upon learning of his fate. However, the instant they encountered one another, it became clear that there was another force drawing them together, something which Pepper initially tried to deny for fear of being hurt again as she had been so many times before.
Gerry was the one being in the entire Cosmos for whom Pepper would refute her vow never to allow herself to fall in love again. Her resistance didn't last long.

OctPoWriMo 2017: Day 23: Angel and Devil: Supernatural Version

OctPoWriMo 2017: Day 23:
Angel and Devil:
Version II:
The Supernatural Version

The brothers should be adversaries
Instead, they are the best of friends
The elder is celestial
The younger, infernal
They work together
Help each other
Two parts of
One soul
Love

~Cie~

Notes:
My SPN friends know that I ship Sam and Dean as an OTP. I kept this poem ambiguous. It works for either an OTP or BROTP pairing of the guys. I hope you like it!

Creeping Desire

Creeping Desire

I told you to get away from my window
So you crept into my dreams
You acted so sweet and filled with love
But with you, nothing is as it seems

You promised you'd come back to me
But you never returned
Night after night I waited for you
Not wanting to believe I'd been spurned

You used me when you felt empty
Tossed me aside when you had your fill
I died from longing for your fickle love
They buried me on the hill

But even in death you couldn't allow me to rest
Nor allow my spirit to roam in peace
You have no compassion in your cold heart
Nor respect for the deceased

You caused my cold form to rise and walk
A fiend from beyond the grave
With wicked sorcery you bound me to you
You tried to make me your unliving slave

But one day I got tired of serving a man
Who cared not a thing for me
Who wanted only to have me serve at his whim
I was determined that I would be free

I broke the spell you held over me
I took back my life
When you knew you no longer had me in your power
You begged me to become your wife

You can't fool me any more
Your piercing eyes can't hypnotize
You can't charm me or make me weak in the knees
Because I recognize all of your lies

I once thought the sun rose and set on you
I once did anything to please
But now I'm over and done and through with you
I've risen up off my knees

I thought you were so smooth and seductive
But now you make me sick
I need a man who uses his heart and his brain
Not one who thinks with his dick

No more greasy, sour vampire
Promising the world till he's had his fun
Your words are transparent like the glass of the window
Where I now let in the sun
