30 Days of Haiga 2022: Your Own Rainbow

text

no clouds in the sky

although there are no rainbows

we can make our own

notes

I created the Haiga using Pixlr.com and a free use image by Prawny on Pixabay.

I also used the Tanka Tuesday prompt.

https://wordcraftpoetry.com/2022/09/06/tankatuesday-weekly-poetry-challenge-no-288-tastetherainbow-color-poetry/

You are welcome to use the Haiga but please credit Cara Hartley/Ornery Owl and provide a link back to this blog.

This is not the best Haiku I ever wrote. It will never be used an example of how to write a perfect Haiku. It may, in fact, be used as an example of how NOT to write a Haiku. However, even though it is not one of my better Haiku, it is one of my favorites.

When I saw the cute monster while looking for pictures of rainbows, I knew he needed to be the star of my Haiga. He may not be the most monsterly monster. He certainly isn't scary. Still, I think he's one of the best monsters I've ever seen. He makes me smile and I hope he will bring a smile to anyone who sees him.

Love,

Ornery Owl

April PAD Challenge/NaPoWriMo Day 2

Today's soundtrack for poetry creation.
Here is the link in case you can't see the player.

Today I used the following prompts to create a cheeky free-verse poem entitled Aprosexia.

Optional prompt: write a poem about spring

write a poem based on a word featured in a tweet from Haggard Hawks, an account devoted to obscure and interesting English words.

I can't share the poem here because then I'd have to kill everyone who might come into contact with this blog. Since I'm too lazy and not bloodthirsty enough to be bothered with that, I'll just wish you a happy second day of poetry immersion.

A less Ornery than usual Ornery Owl says:
"We're just getting started on this journey, Folks!"

We'll just see if Ornery is still blowing sunshine up your posterior halfway through the month!

30 Days of Haiga 2017: Day 12: No Escape

The background is a photograph of a supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way. Text manipulation was created by The Real Cie using Photoshop.
This image was inspired by the plot of Team Netherworld's WIP novel, Fetch. The story hasn't been progressing very much of late, so the image is also a reminder not to give up, to allow ourselves to continue to be caught up in the pull of this magical tale, to be drawn back in and let it take us for a ride.

OctPoWriMo 2014: Day 9

That Kind of Girl

Have you heard the word?
They're talking about her all over town
They say that Wanda is that kind of girl
She's that tenacious kind of girl

Wanda will keep on keeping on
She's that stubborn kind of girl
She'll stay the course even after she's been berated and belittled
And if you ask her why, she'll tell you:

"Because--just because."

Have you ever heard of anything so stubborn
As to continue doing what you've been told is a waste of time?
It's not that she's got that thick a skin
You can make her feel like giving in

But she's got willpower

She's audacious--simply audacious!

~Wanda Psycho~

Phrase prompts:
