An Unexpected Visitor

Free use image by Waldkunst on Pixabay

on a dismal night while making a casserole
one eldritch horror caused extramundane disturbance
on its arrival bursting from the earth like a mole
the clatter of bricks brought me great perturbance

never have I before heard such a deafening whistle
not like the hooning sound from its numerous orifices
nothing I could find would make an effective missile
not enough to damage its hardened protuberances

even if I had a tome of arcane magic
eldritch horrors must be known to be dismissed
everything pointed to my ending being tragic
ensuing thoughts of doom made me turn agonist

very many possibilities did cross my mind
visions of my last moments grim and gory
visceral thoughts of murder most unkind
viciously the creature leaned in, ate the casserole, end of story
