Between the Clouds and the Water
Between the clouds and the water
Where poetry hides
Is no fantasy location
Nor a good place for a vacation
It is my world within the world of dreams
A world much more real than it seems
To those unenlightened to the ways
Of those who lead another life behind closed eyes
The sirens swim the Dreamland seas
Searching for vulnerable souls like me
They try to tempt me with their charms, but I resist
For I know I would be far more a slave than a lover
Beneath the clouds and the water
Where poetry hides
I hear the siren's song calling to me
Promising that I could be set free
The freedom they offer is a lie
Those who fall for their lie
Will lie eternally full fathom five
Gazing over the vast ocean floor
With the pearls that have taken
The place of their eyes
Composed by Daniel Clifford
