End of the Road (Kyrielle)

Free use image from Pixabay

wander across the Universe
spilling out my accursed verse
I'm carrying my heavy load
to the end of life's winding road

lost like a child left motherless
a heavy burden in my breast
dry ground where once the river flowed
to the end of life's winding road

rolling on to the bitter end
wond'ring if any called me friend
will I walk off with debt still owed
to the end of life's winding road?

  1. Lost, carrying a heavy load is just that ~~ heavy! Wishing you and all a lighter load and “getting found.”

  2. I feel the Beatles here, Across the Universe, Long and Winding Road, She's leaving Home, Will you love me when I'm 64, Mother Mary? I think your song quotes at the header put me in a music frame of mind. http://www.looseleafnotes.com/2021/03/to-write-a-poem/

  3. Oh, sad reflections! But I love the accomplished use of the form.

  4. That winding road can sometimes be a tricky place. I trust that the tricks will be few, the friends many, and your burdens lighter as you continue your journey.

We love comments, with three caveats.
Be cool, Fool.
Don't be rude, Dude.
Don't be a prick, Slick.
That's all, Saul.
I try to get comments published as quickly as possible. I don't always reply to comments on my blog, but I do try to visit as many people as possible when I participate in blog hops and I share links where possible to Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and such so others can discover your work. I do read and appreciate your comments.
