I will be extremely thankful
if we the people can fulfill
removing from Capitol Hill
the Beast who causes such rankle
my only hope for Thanksgiving this year
of which I dream in anticipation
is to be able to raise my glass in a toast
and say I am thankful to the Powers that May Be
that the Beast has been ousted
and perhaps the nation can heal
the Beast's presence caused hearts to chill
running on less than a tankful
as he brags about his bank-full
the poor swallow a bitter pill
I am done with the Beast, to say the least
I hope the majority agrees with me
It is time for Nero to stop fiddling
with our minds while the country burns literally
take the lying liar
out to a pasture filled with tumbleweeds
dejar que el mentiroso mentiroso estofado en sus propios jugos
mientras que la gente trabaja para reconstruir
~cie~
The last stanza means "let the lying liar stew in his own juices while the people try to rebuild."

ReplyDeleteOnly a sense of humor keeps us sane until Election Day . . . and then that long wait until January 20th, with fingers crossed. Thanks for writing about this truly historic mess! I'm still reminded of that saying recently spotted on a walk: Love Thy Neighbor: No Exceptions! But I'm thinking there may be an exception!
ReplyDeleteAmen.
