Dare to Care

With minds polluted by hate
How can we ever hope
To make this a better world?

We don't take care of what we hate
In a world where so many people hate everything
No one will take care of anything

If you cannot help another
At least try not to hurt them
That includes the planet

In a world where no one gives a damn
How can we hope for a better tomorrow
When no one cares today

Even though caring is out of fashion
Some of us have to try
We have to dare to look like fools today

Keep Them Real

If we don't save them

They will be but myth

Aubvey's Netiquette

Miss Aubvey Winslow shares her Wise Words of Wisdom with the Web

Dearest World Wide Webbin' Keyboard Warriors
Listen up, cause Miss Aubvey's got something to say

Those of y'all who are goin' online and tellin' folks to kill themselves
Cause they don't agree with your thoughts on whatever and what have you

Bless your little hearts!
That really ain't very nice

I ain't here to tell y'all what to do
I only ask you to think twice

How would you feel if someone was to say to you
That you oughta cut your wrists
Or find a tree and hang yourself
That really just ain't right

Now, maybe it wouldn't bother you too much
Maybe you're all rough and tough

But some folks ain't had an easy time in life
And maybe it wouldn't take much
To make 'em actually take a jump in the drink
Some folks are standin' on the brink

I ain't sayin' you gotta agree with every ole body's every ole thought
I'm just askin' you not to let the rotten come pourin' out
Just 'cause you disagree
With someone's religion or politickin' or sports team or what have you

Do like Miss Aubvey
Put a little spoonful of sugar on it
Let it melt in your mouth and mind a while
'Fore you let it come pourin' out on your keyboard.

Love,
Aubvey

Judgment

Their judgmental ways
 Taught me to be tolerant
 Or at least to try

~Cie~

Prompts Abused:
(Flip the mask around and upside and down and try talking of the gods the other way.)

(Think back to your childhood)

Notes:
I grew up in a very judgmental, religiously dogmatic family. My father's family were old world Catholics. My mother's were hard-line Baptists. These judgmental attitudes eventually pushed me away from the church. I didn't want to be that way.
Flipping the issue on its head, a portion of my trifecta of mental illness is borderline personality disorder. People with borderline personality disorder tend to see everything in shades of black and white. I have to fight against this all the time. I tend to take things very personally, to become very defensive, to feel that I am always being attacked or rejected. It makes it very hard to be close to people. I also tend to push people away before they have a chance to hurt me. It is an extremely lonely disorder to live with.
The upshot is, I can't blame my family for the portion of the problem that is mine to bear alone. I have been guilty of being terribly judgmental, and I have hurt people with my judgments.

For Rachel

A friend I knew yesterday
I miss you today
I will still love you tomorrow

I miss you, Rachel
You understood
I wish you were still here

Perhaps in a future life
We can meet again
Let us always be friends

Remains of a Dead World

What remains of Zecor?
The rain still falls gently on the long dead Sua flowers
Thirteen mummified bodies lie broken on the steps
Of the loathsome Ktenology Center

Masks and costumes for the Zgraj Festival
Lie in the changing room at the Grand Zerif Temple
Still awe inspiring, still glorious
Despite being buried beneath centuries of dust

Bodies of Zecor's former residents
The Katet, the Teridan, the Eygal
Lie as dead as the heartbroken princess
Who once dreamed she would protect them

Found in the street beside the steps of the Ktenology Center
The body of the brutal tyrant who ruled o'er West Zecor
The half brother and polar opposite of
The gentle, broken princess

The mines of Sluvan still contain deposits
Wyfnor and Ghjem
Once delivered to worlds near and far
Now rest within the darkness of dead earth

Written on the wall of the West Holpry Ghetto
The words here lies our Joub, aged thirteen years
Beloved brother of Serab
Sweetheart of his devoted Sata

Once it was whispered in secret meeting places
That Qweh, the King, took his crown prematurely
When he conspired with the ambitious Royal Doctor
To poison the ailing King Giraq

The folk of Zecor dressed in a style both glorious and uncomplicated
Loose fitting silky tunics and dresses both practical and pretty
At festivals, the attire was glorious and awe inspiring
The Parade of the Queen a favorite celebration of the people

On the sixth floor of the Center for Ktenology
Lies the body of Princess Ondina
Beside her, the body of her beloved Serab and her friend Xegran
Beneath the broken window, the body of her despised brother

The final warning from the underground newsletter
States simply that those left behind will die
"Qweh has doomed us," it proclaims
"May the Vbiq and the Zjepa devour his eyes"

The chamber where Xegran once regaled Ondina
With tales of Ista, Queen of the Fourth Moon
Remains remarkably free from dust
And from the deadly atmosphere

Walk down the nearby alley and you'll find
A pile of mummified corpses, eyes removed
Walk to the border between East and West Zecor and you will hear
Only the wind blowing over the dead land

A feeling of nameless terror pervades in this doomed world
Even the most scientific of explorers turn quickly away from photographs of Zecor
"Postcards of the damned," they say dismissively
Not wishing to try and explain away

The feelings
Of terror
Inspired
By the doomed world
